Membership Requirements and Social Media Information

Social Media Groups that are administered by Kentucky History and Genealogy Network have group rules.

  • These rules must be agreed to and followed for further consideration to join a group.
    • You must also answer all three (3) membership questions to be considered for membership.
      • Failure to answer membership questions and agree to group rules will result in a decline.
    • A decline will be with a notification stating the reason for declining is an issue with questions.
    • The group rules are consistent across all the groups.
    • A few groups will have slight variations because of their make up subjects (Sales Groups, DNA group etc.)
    • If you are admitted to the group the group rules below will apply and are listed below.

Copyrights and Postings

  • Nothing copyrighted posted without the proper permission from the proper owner.
    • Sanction; (Post Removal, Member removal on repeat);
      • Any item protested as being copied illegally will be removed from the group as soon as notification is known.
      • We have no way of properly or feasible method of verifying whether a post is copyrighted or not.
      • The item is removed and the poster and the protester must work the complaint out between themselves.

Facebook Guidelines

  • Facebook has standards stated in their policies and are first and foremost in relevance.
    • Sanction; (Enforced by Facebook)

Selling/Spamming

  • No spamming, selling or soliciting of funds.
    • Sanction; (Removal of post 1st Time, Member Removal on 2nd Time)

Offensive/Hate Language

  • Nothing offensive to any individual or groups.
    • Sanction; (Warning 1st time with post removal, Member Removal 2nd time)

Political and Religious Posts and Debates

  • No political or religious debates or posts.
    • (Sanction; Member Removal)
      • Kentucky History and Genealogy Network is a registered Nonprofit and is bound under standards set by the Internal Revenue Service.
      • These standards require the organization to completely abstain from endorsing, supporting or opposing any political candidate.
      • Failure to abide by this standard will result in a loss of the the Nonprofit status for the organization.
      • Religious debates become very inflammatory and are not permitted.

Blocking Administrators

  • Blocking any Administrator or Moderator
    • Sanction (Member Blocked and Removed).
      • A tactic that spammers use and is strictly forbidden.
      • Please bring issues with an Administrator or a Moderator to our attention so it can be discussed and resolved.

Subject Matter and Posting

  • All conversations must be on topic to our group discussion matter.
    • Sanction (Post Removal 1st time, Muted 2nd offense, Member removal 3rd Time)

Inviting Members

  • Member invites are held 1 hour to wait on questions answered and rules agreed to.
    • After 1 hour they are automatically declined and a notification sent to the invited member to request to be added.
      • Invited members often get added to other groups without their knowledge through well meaning friends.
      • To verify someone actually wants to be added they must answer the questions and agree to the rules.
      • This lets us know they are aware that they are admitted as a member.
      • If the rules and questions are not addressed the invite is declined with a feedback message.

Profanity

  • No profanity is tolerated.
    • Sanction; (Member Removal and Post Removal)
