About KHGN Inc and its Development

Early Beginnings

What would become Kentucky History and Genealogy Network Inc, also known as KHGN Inc., began some time in 2012. Marty Wyatt of Rockcastle County started a photo album. It featured old historical pictures mainly from friends. These included their family pictures. This was done on his personal Facebook platform.

The items were spaced out and posted at a rate of about two new photos per week. They quickly gained a fanbase in the Facebook audience. Soon there were requests for specific photos of which great effort was placed in locating any available in the public. Very soon the audience began to send photos to be posted to Wyatt and these were posted into the album.

This process grew exponentially about the time Facebook began their Groups Campaign. The personal Facebook albums swiftly became overcrowded and the move to make groups on Facebook began. The groups were created and organized into county groups.

They were separated to create a common place to congregate and share items. These grew very quickly and volunteers were recruited to help manage the growing list of groups. In 2018 the decision was made to incorporate the cluster of groups and file for Nonprofit status.

Kentucky History and Genealogy Network Inc is now a Kentucky based 501-C-3 Nonprofit based almost entirely online.
